Five NTV projects made it to the shortlist in six categories of this prestigious TV industry competition. The awards recognize companies that lead the industry transformation and create unique new viewing experience.
Controversial and dark political drama Fatherland has been shortlisted in two categories at once — Best Debut Drama Series and Series Launch of the Year. The project has been making a huge splash all year round, from Berlin’s EFM to LA Screenings, and ‘Serial Killer’ TV content festival lately. It’s absolutely unique as it fearlessly portrays corruption and its dreadful consequences, the issues that are tabu in modern Russia. An idealistic journalist who eagerly fights the evils of society, finds himself in a dire situation and slowly moves down the dark path. One compromise after another, he turns into the very person he has spent half of his life confronting. The transformation is dramatic and the setting is very appropriate for such narrative. The dilemma of freewill is central to this series, making it universally appealing and relatable.

The most popular Russian series Shepherd made it to the shortlist in ‘Best Returning Drama Series’ category. This crimedy has been an incredible hit in Russia for 5 seasons in a row. The story of a former police detective and his dog who investigate crimes as an independent team has proven to be super popular among all audiences. The combination of situational humor, mystery and suspension entangled with characters’ personal problems is relatable, fun to watch, and highly entertaining. A classic police procedural that proved timeless and relevant, works perfectly internationally as well because it is original, unpredictable, and very funny and its humor translates easily into any culture.
