NTV’s incredibly popular period thriller from SS 2019–2020 will get the long-anticipated continuation. Based on true stories and real characters, ‘Gangs of Rostov’ was among the channel’s most viewed series with 19.2% viewing share, and 16.2% in rerun. The series’ S1 will air in the U.S. and LATAM through Olympusat channels.
In series’ S1 we’re watching the violent rise of gangland power in Russia after the October Revolution. The main character, Kozyr, the now Chief of Criminal Police, used to be a famous criminal in this same town. He sees his colleagues, friends, and even his wife murdered, but only gets stronger and more determined to win this war on crime.
Beautifully written, made with great attention to the details, this historical gangster saga was powerful and fascinating, which is why S2 is only a logical step. The battle between the old and the new — the Tsarist Russia and the Bolsheviks’ order — has to continue.
