Deep Woods

After rejecting a marriage proposal to a big city detective, a young journalist, Eva, goes missing. Devastated boyfriend goes to her hometown, hidden in the backwoods, only to encounter a wall of silence and to clash with local law and order. On top of that, he becomes first a suspect, then a witness to armed robbery/homicide. Trying to help, he inserts himself into the investigation, but this creates even more animosity between him and this one-horse-town’s police force. Slowly but surely, captain Novikov uncovers the details of the robbery but constantly runs into the resistance from the local chief of police. And, then, tragically, his girlfriend is found drowned in the local lake. She was investigating a career-breaking story, which got her killed. While following the leads in the armed robbery case, Novikov comes to the conclusion that Eva’s death and this crime are related. He starts digging deeper. The generation gap and undiplomatic ways used by Novikov, create a lot of tension and prevent him from finding the truth. Will he manage to stop being stubborn and pushy and listen to how things are done locally or will he stick to his ways and fail?
